repeated outbreaks of infection linked to contaminated ultrasound gel, particularly from multi-use bottles. The guidance
introduces strict infection-control measures: discarding bottles after 1 month, disinfecting tips between patients,
removing gel residue, and complex sterile vs. non-sterile decision trees. While essential, these practices add workflow
burden, training complexity, and clinical waste.
